Mecklenburg-West Pomerania: Festival: "Nosferatu" with new music back in Wismar

Wismar (dpa/mv) - 100 years after the horror classic was shot in Wismar, the Festspiele Mecklenburg-Vorpommern are bringing "Nosferatu" to the stage with a new live soundtrack in the Hanseatic city. The silent film will be accompanied on Friday evening with innovative jazz by pianist Michael Wollny, bassist Christian Weber and the Norwegian Wind Ensemble, the festival management announced on Thursday. The concert venue is the Wismar port.

Scenes from the 1922 film include St. Mary's Church, the Old Port and the Water Gate. Wismar was not the only municipality that lent its face to the fictitious city "Wisborg", there was further filming in Lübeck, Rostock and on Sylt, among other places.

Until the end of September, a theater production with puppets up to 4.20 meters tall, which roam the old town of Wismar, is also dedicated to the anniversary.
