Mecklenburg-West Pomerania: Film opens the 31st Filmkunstfest Mecklenburg-West Pomerania

Schwerin (dpa/mv) - The 31st Filmkunstfest Mecklenburg-Vorpommern will open on Tuesday (6.30 p.m.) in the "Capitol" festival cinema in Schwerin. Feature films, documentaries, short films and children's films from Germany, Austria and Switzerland compete in four competitions for prizes totaling 48,000 euros. A total of 143 films have been announced by Sunday, including 22 German premieres and ten world premieres. Guest country is Romania. The opening film "In Search of the Wind" also comes from there, in which a young man is surprised by a serious illness diagnosis.

Other series are dedicated to films from France, Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania and the Baltic Sea region. Defa and NDR productions are also presented in their own rows. The guest of honor at the festival is the actor Matthias Habich. The strips with him that are shown in Schwerin include "Klemperer - Ein Leben in Deutschland", in which he played the leading role in 1999. Habich receives the festival's honorary award, the "Golden Ox", for his life's work.
