Mecklenburg-West Pomerania: Gardens in Mecklenburg-West Pomerania open their doors

Wandering around in someone else's gardens? That's easily possible in the Northeast this weekend. According to the organizers, the "Open Gardens in MV" campaign is enjoying growing popularity.

Schwerin (dpa/mv) - Nature lovers are invited to a discovery tour through the gardens of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania at the weekend. Around 120 private gardens, parks or nurseries are opening their doors as part of the "Open Gardens in MV" campaign. It's about gardeners opening their gems to strangers, said a spokeswoman for the campaign. Most participants would do this between 10am and 6pm on Saturday and Sunday. Visitors can also look forward to coffee and cake in many places. The initiative has grown over the past six years. In the meantime, groups have arranged to meet up specifically for "garden hopping". Apart from the island of Rügen, there are participants all over the country.

The organizers list all participants in the campaign on their website. In addition, colorful watering cans should help those interested to find the participating gardens.

According to the organizers, a second weekend is already planned for autumn due to the great demand, when the gardens in the country should open. In addition, the "Summer Night in the Garden" campaign takes place in mid-August, with evening cultural programs in the gardens such as readings, music or plays.
