Mecklenburg-West Pomerania: Mecklenburg-West Pomerania continues to grow in foreign trade

Schwerin (dpa/mv) - After the record year 2021, export growth in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania is continuing despite all the turbulence in world trade. As the Statistical Office announced on Friday in Schwerin, goods worth 2.39 billion euros left the country in the first quarter of 2022. That was 13.4 percent more than in the same period last year. The most important buyers were once again the Netherlands, Denmark and Poland, with Denmark at 35.3 percent and Poland at 23.6 percent achieving above-average growth rates.

Imports also increased further in the first quarter, by 11.7 percent to a value of 2.18 billion euros. Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania thus once again recorded a foreign trade surplus of around 200 million euros. Denmark had the largest share, almost tripling its imports to 307 million euros.
