Mecklenburg-West Pomerania: Medical technician Eppendorf optimistic about the Wismar site

Schwerin/Wismar (dpa/mv) - The medical technology group Eppendorf is optimistic about the planned start of production at the former location of the MV-Werfen finished modules in Wismar at the beginning of April. "We have already hired 30 employees here from Wismar," said Peter Fruhstorfer, Co-CEO of Eppendorf SE, at the annual reception of the Chamber of Industry and Commerce in Schwerin on Friday. They are currently commuting to the existing plant in Oldenburg, Schleswig-Holstein, for their training. Fruhstorfer hopes that, against the background of the shortage of skilled workers, he can score points with future employees, above all with a long-term perspective.

According to the information, the former halls of the MV-Werften Fertigmodule GmbH have now been cleared. The clean room technology required for plastics production is currently being installed in the halls. If the company had its way, Eppendorf would like to build a wind turbine to be able to supply its factory with energy independently. According to Fruhstorfer, the possibilities are currently being examined.
