Kargow (dpa / mv) - The listed manor house in the Müritz National Park village of Kargow (Mecklenburg Lake District) has new owners. As a spokeswoman for the German Property Auctions AG (Berlin) said on Monday, the property was sold in the so-called after-sale for the autumn auction. A company from the Berlin area bought the manor house, which includes around 3,900 square meters of space, at the minimum bid. This was 68,000 euros. After the failed privatization more than 30 years ago, the community can now hope for a renovation.
The manor house dates back to 1866. It was sold to a private individual from Berlin after 1989, but he let it fall into disrepair. The once representative manor house was built by the last family of the manor house owner Carl Julius Neumann and has more than 20 rooms, including a large hall.
The owners fled at the end of the war in 1945. After that, refugees, among others, lived there. Kargow, with its Federow and Speck districts, is a popular gateway to the Müritz National Park, which covers around 32,000 hectares.
