The Mecklenburgers got off to a better start and acted on an equal footing with the favorites in the first quarter. Although the guests had to accept 31 points, they scored 29 points themselves. In the middle of the second quarter, Oldenburg was then able to slowly pull away. The Seawolves were unable to do much against the offensive spectacle of coach Pedro Calles' team until the break.
After the change of sides, the Rostockers acted much better under both baskets and secured the third period with a lead of five points. However, Oldenburg immediately ended the guests' race to catch up in the first few minutes of the final section with a 9:2 series.
The Rostockers will play the next game next Sunday (8.30 p.m.) in their own hall. The Veolia Towers Hamburg will then be guests in the northern derby.
