Mecklenburg-West Pomerania: Schwesig: Working together with every elected mayor of Rostock

Rostock (dpa / mv) - Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania's Prime Minister Manuela Schwesig (SPD) has made it clear that the state government will work with every elected mayor from Rostock, regardless of party color. "We have to bring Rostock forward," she emphasized on Friday during a visit to the Rostock seaport. "The state government will work well with everyone the citizens choose."

Greens and SPD have already officially nominated their candidates. The left will finally decide on Monday; CDU and FDP discuss on the same day. "I think it's great for everyone who comes up and says I'm ready to take on this task." Rostock is the largest and economically strongest city in the north-east. When the engine is running in Rostock, it is important for the whole country.

A new mayor will be elected in Rostock on November 13th. The previous incumbent, Claus Ruhe Madsen, moved to Schleswig-Holstein in June as Economics Minister in the cabinet of Prime Minister Daniel Günther (CDU). Should a runoff election become necessary, it is scheduled for November 27th.
