Mecklenburg-West Pomerania: thieves steal statue of Rammstein singer in Rostock

It was supposed to be an early birthday present for Rammstein singer Lindemann: a finely crafted bronze statue by an artist. But she didn't stay on the pedestal for long.

Rostock (dpa/mv) - Just one day after it was installed, unknown persons stole a bronze statue by the anonymous artist Roxxy Roxx from Rammstein singer Till Lindemann in Rostock. The police announced on Wednesday. The statue stood on a green area in the Evershagen district of Rostock, where Lindemann spent part of his youth. Police were notified of the theft around 10 a.m. Wednesday morning.

The work of art on a pedestal was set up as an "early birthday present" for Lindemann, who turned 60 this Wednesday. "Early happy birthday, @till_lindemann_official I made you a statue," Roxxy Roxx wrote on his Instagram account on Tuesday.

The action was met with many "likes" and positive reactions on the Internet. "May he stay there forever!" One comment said. This hope was disappointed. The second bad experience for Roxxy Roxx: In July 2019 he dedicated a statue to the rapper Marteria in downtown Rostock with his fictional character "Marsimoto". It was also stolen by strangers after just two days.
