Schwerin (dpa/mv) - Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania and Saxony are launching a pilot project for the rapid integration of Ukraine refugees into nursing professions. The Ministry of Health in Schwerin announced on Friday that Ukrainians with a relevant qualification from their home country should be able to work in hospitals and care facilities from the summer. The Federal Office for Migration and Refugees (Bamf) will support language courses in small groups. Everyday and professional technical language would then be consolidated and further trained at the workplace.
The expert opinion office for foreign professional qualifications of the Conference of Ministers of Education recently found that the Ukrainian training in nursing is almost comparable to that in Germany, the ministry said. So far, more than 14,000 war refugees from the Ukraine have found accommodation in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. Many worked in the healthcare sector in their home country.
