Breege (dpa / mv) - When trying to overtake on the island of Rügen, a 79-year-old driver was seriously injured. He was on the L30 in the direction of Glowe on Thursday afternoon and wanted to overtake a truck, the police said. When both vehicles were at the same height, the semi-trailer truck got into the left lane for reasons that are still unclear. The vehicles collided sideways - and both came off the road.
The car overturned. The 79-year-old suffered serious but non-life-threatening injuries. A rescue helicopter took him to the Greifswald Clinic. His 78-year-old passenger and the truck driver suffered minor injuries. The L30 was closed for around two and a half hours while the accident was being recorded and the vehicles were being recovered.
