Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania: accident while fleeing traffic control: seriously injured

Ueckermünde (dpa / mv) - Two young people were seriously injured in a car accident after a rapid escape from the police. The 17-year-old driver tried to avoid a traffic check in Ueckermünde (Vorpommern-Greifswald district) early on Sunday morning, the police said. Accordingly, the driver accelerated when he noticed the stop signals of the patrol car.

The young man tried to flee from the police in his car with excessive speed and risky driving. He drove via Ducherow on the L31 in the direction of Bugewitz, where his car crashed into a tree. The car overturned and landed on its roof. The 17-year-old and his passenger, the same age, were seriously injured. They were taken to a clinic.

The police initiated several investigations - among other things, because of prohibited motor vehicle racing, endangering road traffic, negligent bodily harm and driving without a license.
