Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania: After a collision with a deer: four cars damaged

Mestlin (dpa/mv) - A wildlife accident on Tuesday morning near Mestlin (Ludwigslust-Parchim district) resulted in four damaged cars. A police spokesman said all four drivers were unharmed, but the total damage was estimated at five figures. According to the first investigations, a driver collided with a deer on the federal highway 392 on a hilltop. Two drivers stopped on the other side to help. A third car followed. Its driver braked accordingly, but did not stop in time and drove into the two cars. The street had to be closed. What became of the deer is not yet clear.

Since the time change at the end of October, wildlife accidents have been increasing again in the Ludwigslust-Parchim district. So far, 169 clashes involving deer, roe deer, badgers and foxes have been recorded since November 1, in which two motorists have been injured, the spokesman said. The risk is particularly high in the morning, when rush-hour traffic falls again at dusk. On average, around 3,000 wildlife accidents occur in the region every year, some involving wolves.
