Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania: After Rostock, Stralsund gets a bicycle road

Stralsund (dpa/mv) - After Rostock, Stralsund is now also getting a bicycle road: On August 26, the "Radroute Franken" is to be opened as the first bicycle road on inner-city side streets, as the Hanseatic city announced on Wednesday. Cyclists must be given priority over the entire route of around 1.8 kilometers.

In May, the central Lange Strasse in Rostock was declared a bicycle lane. Cars, motorcycles and bicycles are allowed to drive there at a maximum of 30 kilometers per hour. The additional sign "Anlieger frei" regulates that only cars that want to go to an adjacent property or shop are allowed to enter. The test is initially limited to one year. Trams also run in the street. Further bicycle streets are planned in Rostock.
