Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania: Association sees teachers being overloaded by additional tasks

Schwerin (dpa / mv) - According to the Education and Training Association (VBE) Mecklenburg-West Pomerania, the commitment of the Minister of Education to part-time work is not sufficient in view of the strain on the teachers. "The proportion of working time in addition to teaching has increased enormously, especially in recent years," said the chairman of the state association, Michael Blanck, on Friday in Schwerin. The 50-hour week has long since made its way into conscientious work. The association cites inclusion, the training of refugees and the corona pandemic as reasons.

Simone Oldenburg (left) assured on Thursday that the possibility for teachers to work part-time should definitely be retained. Blanck welcomed this: "Above all, the clear commitment not to limit part-time regulations is a good signal for attractive working conditions, even in times of teacher shortages".

From the point of view of the VBE, the obligation to teach must also be reduced. An examination planned by the government at the end of the legislative period is clearly too late.
