Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania: Backhaus: discussion about Buga in Rostock not over

Rostock (dpa / mv) - After the cancellation of the Federal Horticultural Show in Rostock for 2025, Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania's Minister of Agriculture Till Backhaus (SPD) sees the Hanseatic city as having an obligation. "The discussion is not over yet," he said on Wednesday in Schwerin.

The day before, the Buga supervisory board had announced to the city that it would not be possible to prepare the so-called Rostocker Oval along the Warnow river as the sole event area for the Buga, which is subject to admission, by 2025. This applies in particular to the Warnow Bridge, which cannot be completed on time by April 2025.

It is good that the supervisory board has now created facts, said Backhaus. This gives clarity on one point. "But the impasse is not over yet." Since the planning is apparently to continue, the city has to explain what it is planning in concrete terms. The state government initially gave until June 10th to do this.
