Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania: Battle tank combat shooting for the first time since 2018

Torgelow (dpa/mv) - After a four-year break, there will be a louder exercise with battle tanks and combat shooting again in Western Pomerania from December 7th. The Panzergrenadierbrigade 41 pointed this out on Wednesday in Torgelow (West Pomerania-Greifswald). There could be "more shooting noise than usual" on December 7th and 8th at the Jägerbrück military training area.

In the combined combat exercise of armored infantry and armored troops, the safety regulations and the legally specified maximum noise levels were observed and monitored. The last joint shooting of armored personnel carriers and Leopard 2 main battle tanks in Jägerbrück was in 2018. We ask for your understanding for the increased exercise activity, it said.

Jägerbrück is around 130 kilometers north of Berlin. The exercise site, which is partly forested, is 12.5 kilometers long and about 10 kilometers wide. This includes a barracks that Bundeswehr units last used on the way to the NATO mission in Lithuania. There are other Bundeswehr barracks in and around Torgelow. With around 4,500 soldiers, Brigade 41 is the largest army unit in MV.
