Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania: Bishop: put future worries in God's hands

Greifswald (dpa / mv) - The evangelical bishop for Mecklenburg and Pomerania, Tilman Jeremias, has promoted trust in God and mutual encouragement in view of current concerns. "While a brutal war is raging in the middle of Europe, energy is becoming scarce and climate change is becoming ever more threatening, some certainties are in question," Jeremias is quoted as saying about the upcoming turn of the year. It is beneficial when someone builds you up and shows understanding.

"And how relieving it can be to put your worries about the future in God's hands." For the year 2023 he wishes that people in difficulties find someone who will give them courage.

Jeremias referred to the church's motto for the year 2023 in his word for the new year. It reads: "You are a God who sees me (Gen. 16:13)." The sentence came from the mouth of a woman who, in great distress, fled into the desert and met an angel there who encouraged and strengthened her.
