The driver of the blood donation vehicle was injured, a police spokesman said on Wednesday. The Autobahn 20 was blocked for more than two hours in the direction of Rostock. According to the police, there was around 40,000 euros in property damage.
The articulated lorry and 30 sections of the central crash barriers were also severely damaged. The truck was recovered, the driver was unharmed. It is not clear whether blood donations were also damaged. Why the driver hit the truck at such a high speed is still being investigated.
