Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania: Boat shed fire: Neighboring tenants are allowed to salvage boats

Neubrandenburg (dpa/mv) - Three weeks after a major fire in a boat shed in Neubrandenburg, tenants of a previously blocked neighboring row of sheds are allowed to salvage their boats. As a spokesman for the city said on Tuesday, 40 boat owners will be given this opportunity this Wednesday (May 25) and Friday, June 3. Some wanted to anchor their boats elsewhere on the Oberbach or on the Tollensesee. The row affected is directly adjacent to the last two rows of boat sheds that were largely destroyed in a major fire on May 5th.

So far, oil snakes have blocked the exits from the rescued neighboring row of sheds 12. The fire brigade should make the rescue possible. But if you want to salvage your boat, you are not allowed to start the engine, the city said.

According to the police, 60 boat sheds burned down completely or were badly damaged. The damage was estimated at 1.2 million euros. The ruins are still standing, the clearance has not yet started. There have been three fires in the plant since then. The police are looking for arsonists.
