Sassnitz (dpa / mv) - After fires in cars and a paper container at the weekend in Sassnitz, the police are investigating on suspicion of intentional arson. As a police spokesman said on Sunday, the fire occurred on Friday evening in the center of the port city on the island of Rügen. First, a small car burned, which was probably set on fire. This was completely destroyed. The flames also damaged a car next to it. Five minutes later, according to the police, a burning paper container was reported in a neighboring street.
The Sassnitz fire brigade extinguished the fires. The public prosecutor ordered the use of a fire expert. The amount of the total damage was estimated at a five-digit sum. Nobody got hurt.
