Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania: Cars come in the opposite lane: five injured in two accidents

Malchin/Neddemin (dpa/mv) - Five people were injured in two accidents on the Mecklenburg Senplatte. In Malchin and Neddemin, drivers got into the oncoming lane on Wednesday for an unknown reason and collided with oncoming vehicles, as a police spokesman said on Thursday. On the state road 35 near Neddemin, the former B96, a 77-year-old driver and his 78-year-old passenger were injured so badly that they came to a clinic. No one was injured in the other car. The road was closed for two and a half hours.

Shortly before, a 56-year-old driver on the B104 in Malchin had gotten his car into the oncoming lane. The 56-year-old was seriously injured in the collision with the oncoming car. In the other car, the 86-year-old driver and an 80-year-old passenger were injured. All three were taken to hospitals. The federal highway 104, an important traffic axis, was closed for almost an hour.

Experts should now clarify how it came to the accidents. Both cars were totaled.
