Schwerin (dpa/mv) - From the point of view of the CDU parliamentary group in the Schwerin state parliament, the red-red coalition plans to withdraw funds from the universities in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. Science Minister Bettina Martin (SPD) wants to siphon off reserves from the universities, said science policy spokeswoman Katy Hoffmeister on Thursday after an expert hearing. The country is evading responsibility for the science location.
According to the CDU, the experts had complained that the state subsidies were too low and called for a reduction in the intervention in the reserves. Hoffmeister sees a de facto reduction in state subsidies of up to 8 percent: "Planned projects in digitization, the renovation of buildings, new buildings, further qualification of employees and new appointments are therefore on the brink in the next few years".
