Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania: CDU parliamentary group leader: Schwesig did not tell the truth

Schwerin (dpa / mv) - The CDU parliamentary group leader in the Schwerin state parliament, Franz-Robert Liskow, has again accused Prime Minister Manuela Schwesig (SPD) of having told the untruth in connection with the controversial climate protection foundation MV. Schwesig said to the state parliament that the foundation would neither build nor operate the Nord Stream 2 natural gas pipeline, Liskow told the "Schweriner Volkszeitung" (Tuesday). "That wasn't the truth."

In truth, the foundation was the general contractor for the construction of the pipeline. "She has built a total of 200 million euros." This had never been discussed before. The public and his parliamentary group were not properly informed in this respect.

The establishment of the climate foundation, which was largely financed with money from Russian natural gas transactions, was decided in January 2021 in the state parliament without a dissenting vote. The CDU parliamentary group also agreed, they were in a government coalition with the SPD at the time. After the state elections in September 2021, the Union switched to the opposition bench. According to Liskow, she has settled into her new role. "No one here has a great longing for the SPD," he said.

From Liskow's point of view, the balance sheet of the new red-red coalition is rather meager after a year. "The government hasn't done so much yet," he said. "A new holiday, rainbow flags in front of town halls and voting at 16, that's all it was." It is also a mistake to decide on a new holiday on the eve of a recession. It is also a mistake that red-red pile up mountains of debt instead of using savings potential.
