The tax office demands 9.8 million euros in gift taxes from the foundation on payments that the foundation received from the pipeline operator Nord Stream 2. "The foundation has nothing to hide. It would be nice if the Ministry of Finance could also say that and we didn't have to fight for the answers to our legitimate questions in court," said Erwin Sellering (SPD), board member of the foundation, on Tuesday in Schwerin.
The climate foundation has doubts that the tax procedure was carried out properly and without the influence of the state government. She demands access to the files. The foundation criticized that this has so far been denied.
