Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania: Climate Foundation: FDP still suspicious of Sellering

Schwerin (dpa / mv) - The FDP parliamentary group in Schwerin continues to doubt the planned resignation of ex-Prime Minister Erwin Sellering (SPD) from his post as CEO of the Climate Foundation MV. "After the purpose of "Nord Stream 2" was removed from the statutes, although the commercial business operations can probably not yet be completed, he might think that the dissolution is no longer so serious," said the leader of the Liberal group, René Domke, in Schwerin on Tuesday. On Monday, the Ministry of Justice, as the supervisory authority for the foundation, approved a corresponding change in the statutes.

At the request of the German Press Agency, Sellering said on Monday that he was pleased with the approval, but that this did not change the overall situation. The head of the foundation stands by the agreement reached with the state government in mid-May, according to which the foundation's board of directors will resign as soon as the controversial economic business operations involved in the construction of the pipeline have been completed. With the resignation, all personal relationships between the foundation and the pipeline were also eliminated, Sellering said. The dissolution of the foundation sought by the state government and state parliament would then no longer be the responsibility of the current board.
