Schwerin (dpa/mv) - In the fight against the corona pandemic, the FDP in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania is calling for more personal responsibility and an end to the quarantine requirement after a positive corona finding. "Through the experiences of more than two years of the pandemic and with a solid vaccination rate, we have reached a point where we have to learn to live with Corona in everyday life. This also means that we should decide individually whether to order quarantines," said the FDP member of parliament Barbara Becker-Hornickel on Monday in Schwerin.
She also referred to the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the National Association of Statutory Health Insurance Physicians, Andreas Gassen, who had called for an end to quarantine and isolation requirements. With a view to autumn, for which experts expect the number of infections to increase again, people's personal responsibility must be brought to the fore, said Becker-Hornickel. At the same time, it is important to specifically inform groups that are particularly at risk about the added value of a booster vaccination.
The Berlin traffic light coalition is currently advising on updating the corona provisions in the Infection Protection Act. The current regulations expire on September 23. Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania's Health Minister Stefanie Drese (SPD) is demanding clear rules from the federal government for state intervention in a critical pandemic situation. The federal states needed an infection protection law that would give them the opportunity to react quickly in the fall.
In Dreses' opinion, the previous hotspot regulations have proven to be unsuitable. When revising the Infection Protection Act, it is also important that the measures are accepted by people and that there are clear statements about who should be vaccinated with the new vaccine and when.
