Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania: Corona is forcing 16 schools to do distance and alternating learning

Schwerin (dpa/mv) - Despite the waning summer wave, the corona virus is forcing 16 schools in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania to exchange or distance learning right at the start of the school year. This was announced by the Ministry of Education on Wednesday.

In 14 schools, there were so many teachers missing on Monday that on-site teaching cannot be fully secured. Classes 1 to 6 are therefore taught in school, the older ones from class 7 receive alternating lessons - that is, some of the students learn at school, the other part at home. It is changed regularly.

According to the Ministry of Education, in two schools no face-to-face classes are currently possible for students from grade 7 - apart from the final classes. Students are home-schooled remotely. Classes 1 to 6 can therefore come to school.

It was also said that classes at 458 state schools are running without restrictions due to the pandemic. The Department of Education's weekly survey includes only state schools. Independent schools are left out.
