Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania: Corona Protection Ordinance in the state ends after 1078 days

Schwerin (dpa/mv) - It was in force for exactly 1078 days, now the Corona Protection Ordinance in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania will be lifted on March 1st. This means that corona tests in facilities with risk groups are no longer mandatory from Wednesday, as the Ministry of Social Affairs and Health announced in Schwerin on Tuesday. In addition, almost all mask requirements have been lifted. Only visitors to hospitals and nursing homes and visitors to certain medical practices must continue to wear the face mask. The Corona state regulation was originally supposed to apply until April 7th. Due to the stable infection situation, the cabinet decided on Tuesday to end the regulation early. The first came into force on March 17, 2020.

Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania's Prime Minister Manuela Schwesig (SPD) thanked the citizens who had followed the Corona rules in the past three years. "I am very grateful that we in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania got through the corona pandemic comparatively well. We owe this above all to the common sense and solidarity of the vast majority of citizens in our state." She is pleased that the regulations are no longer necessary. "And hope we never need them again in the future."
