Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania: Despite hostilities on the campsite: Drosten raves about MV

Wesenberg (dpa / mv) - The virologist Christian Drosten, despite insults against him, raved about the northeast at a campsite in the Mecklenburg Lake District. "And I would go on holiday to McPomm anytime, anytime," the scientist tweeted late Wednesday afternoon. "After all, I'm a North German, and it's just good there!" Drosten was born in Lingen in Emsland.

According to the police, the virologist had filed a complaint against two women and a man for defamation after he had been insulted last weekend. The online portal “Wir sind Müritzer” reported about it first. Accordingly, Drosten was insulted, among other things, as a mass murderer. According to a police spokeswoman, the incident happened at Ellbogensee south of Müritz in the border region of Brandenburg.

With his tweet, Drosten replied to a post by TV presenter and weather expert Jörg Kachelmann. He had given him respect for "the approach of vacationing on a campsite in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania". Drosten then also wrote: "Well, we camped at the lake for a night, unfortunately no vacation. That's why no early departure or anything like that."

The scientist gained fame throughout Germany as an expert in the wake of the corona pandemic. He was repeatedly confronted with hostility, for example from critics of vaccinations and other corona protection measures.
