Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania: detective surprised butter thieves: search for fugitives

Neubrandenburg (dpa/mv) - The police in the Mecklenburg Lake District are looking for butter thieves. As a police spokesman said on Wednesday, two men had stowed almost ten kilograms of butter in a backpack in a supermarket in the Neubrandenburg district of Datzeberg and wanted to pass the checkout with it. When approached by a store detective on Monday, the thieves threw away the backpack and fled. The detective observed the men through a video camera. When the employees counted, they came up with 39 sticks of butter that had been bagged. "We haven't had so many thefts like this before," said the police spokesman. The search for the hapless thieves is still ongoing.
