Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania: dog rescued from overheated car

Sternberg (dpa / mv) - Police officers rescued a dog from a completely overheated parked car near Sternberg (Ludwigslust-Parchim district) on Sunday. The officials were alerted by concerned eyewitnesses who noticed a car standing in the blazing sun in a parking lot in Brüel, in which a dog was panting very hard, the police said. When the police officers smashed the side window of the car, "a sauna-like heat" escaped from the vehicle, according to the information.

A policewoman climbed into the vehicle to save the already weak dog. The dog owners, who arrived later, are now awaiting fines for violating the Animal Welfare Act. They also have to bear the costs of using the police.
