Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania: Drese: Don't wait until autumn with booster vaccinations

Schwerin (dpa/mv) - In view of the further increasing number of corona infections, Minister of Health Stefanie Drese (SPD) has called on older and previously ill people with a vaccination several months ago to get a booster vaccination. A first or second booster vaccination protects against severe disease progression. Drese also advised risk patients on Thursday not to wait for the adapted vaccine announced for this fall.

The State Office for Health and Social Affairs (Lagus) reported 2549 new infections in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania on Wednesday. At the same time, the office put the seven-day incidence at 631.3, an increase of 64.2. Experts assume that the actual incidence is much higher, mainly because many infected people no longer have a PCR test done, but only these tests count in the statistics.
