Schwerin (dpa/mv) - Minister of Sport Stefanie Drese praised the commitment of the sports youth MV and was enthusiastic about the games and exercise offers at the Nikolaussportfest for families with small and preschool children in Schwerin. "Children in particular have suffered from the many corona-related restrictions. It is all the better and more important that events such as the St. Nicholas sports festival can take place again this year," said the SPD politician on Saturday.
The St. Nicholas sports festivals held all over the state mark the end of the year for the "Kinder BewegungsLand (KBL)" program. This year, the program included 193 partnerships between 100 sports clubs and 171 day-care centers. According to the ministry, around 4,000 children received an additional weekly exercise offer. The program is funded annually by the state with 120,000 euros. In 2021 and 2022 there were also federal funds from the "Catching up after Corona" program.
