Schwerin (dpa / mv) - In Schwerin, a drunk driver was caught because another, sober driver rammed his car. As a police spokeswoman said on Wednesday, the collision occurred on Tuesday in the center not far from a large shopping center. A 74-year-old driver drove into a left-turn lane there, but then reconsidered and pulled the vehicle to the right. A 66-year-old drove his car straight ahead in this lane and was rammed sideways by the 74-year-old's car.

The police were called. At the scene of the accident, the officials smelled alcohol and had the injured person blow: The Schweriner had 2.2 per mille breath alcohol and had to give up his driver's license. Officers also took him for a blood test. According to the police, the sober woman who caused the accident from near Schwerin must expect a fine – but she was allowed to continue driving.
