Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania: Drosten reports hostilities at the campsite

The well-known virologist Christian Drosten has filed a complaint against three permanent campers for insults at a campsite in the Mecklenburg Lake District. The association of the camping industry announces consequences.

Wesenberg (dpa / mv) - The prominent virologist Christian Drosten has reported abuse to the police at a campsite in the Mecklenburg Lake District. A spokeswoman for the Neubrandenburg police inspection confirmed that he had filed a complaint against three permanent campers, two women and one man, for defamation. The online portal “Wir sind Müritzer” reported about it first. Drosten is said to have been insulted, among other things, as a mass murderer.

The police spokeswoman did not want to say anything because of ongoing investigations into the content of the insults. The incident happened last Saturday at Ellbogensee south of Müritz near Brandenburg. Drosten has meanwhile left again as planned.

The scientist gained fame throughout Germany as an expert in the wake of the corona pandemic. He was repeatedly confronted with hostility, for example from critics of vaccinations and other corona protection measures.

If the suspicion is confirmed, the campsite in the Mecklenburg Lake District will issue and enforce an immediate ban on permanent campers, said the Mecklenburg-Western Pomeranian state association of the Federal Association of the Camping Industry Germany. One expressly distances oneself from such behavior and has no understanding for such insults. The association appreciates the work done by Drosten in fighting the corona pandemic.
