Parchim (dpa / mv) - In Parchim, a pensioner was knocked over by an electric scooter driver and seriously injured. As a police spokeswoman said on Tuesday, the accident happened on Monday on a sidewalk near the train station, where such e-scooter rides are actually prohibited. After initial investigations, the 68-year-old came out of a property entrance and entered the footpath when he was hit by the 18-year-old with an electric two-wheeler. Both fell.
The senior came to a clinic with serious injuries, the 18-year-old was also taken to the hospital with an arm injury, it said. The young e-scooter driver is now being investigated on suspicion of negligent bodily harm. According to the police, rides with e-scooters are normally permitted on cycle paths and cycle zones or on streets.
