Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania: Energy crisis: housing companies are waiting for data

Neubrandenburg (dpa/mv) - Housing companies in the north-east are currently unable to provide their tenants with any reliable data on heating and energy costs for 2023. One of the largest housing companies in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, the Neubrandenburger Wohnungsgesellschaft mbH (Neuwoges), pointed this out on Tuesday. Every day, a large number of inquiries from unsettled tenants about additional burdens are received in writing, by telephone or by e-mail. There is still no clarity here.

At the last prime ministers' conference, a direction was given as to how the consequences of the energy crisis could be alleviated in practice. So far, however, there has been a lack of concrete implementation of the proposals, which range from relief packages, heating cost subsidies to price brakes. Without clarity, households with low incomes in particular risked being left behind.

The landlords need clarity by the end of November, including from their suppliers in the energy supply. Neuwoges has 530 employees and manages around 16,000 apartments in the Neubrandenburg region, which accounts for around a third of the apartments. There are also many tradespeople who have rented rooms and areas. After Rostock and Schwerin, Neubrandenburg is the largest city in the northeast.
