Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania: Ex-ZDF editor-in-chief Frey keynote speaker at Epiphany meeting

Neubrandenburg (dpa/mv) - After a two-year break, there will be another benefit meeting of the Neubrandenburg Dreikönigsverein on January 6, 2023. As a spokesman for the association said on Monday, the former editor-in-chief of ZDF, Peter Frey, will hold the speech. The 65-year-old recently left office.

The benefit evening of the Epiphany Association, which is known for its hospice work in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, among other things, is considered the first social highlight of the year in the north-east.

Due to the long unclear Corona situation, the benefit evening in 2023 will take place for the first time in a hotel in Groß Nemerow on Lake Tollense on a somewhat smaller scale, said the spokesman. On the occasion of the benefit day, companies, members and sponsors donate money that benefits outpatient and inpatient hospice work, youth trips to Israel and other social projects. The association, headed by former state parliament president Rainer Prachtl, also awards the oldest social prize in MV, which is endowed with 10,000 euros.

In 2021, despite the cancellation of the meeting, around 75,000 euros were donated to projects. In the past, speakers have included Cardinal Reinhard Marx, Mikhail Gorbachev, Lech Walesa, Angela Merkel, Roman Herzog, Wolfgang Schäuble, Wolfgang Thierse and Joachim Gauck before he became Federal President.
