Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania: First Epiphany meeting after a two-year Corona break

Neubrandenburg (dpa/mv) - After a two-year break due to corona, the Neubrandenburg Dreikönigsverein will meet again on Friday (6 p.m.) for a benefit meeting. The donation evening of the socially committed association, which is known among other things for its hospice work in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, is considered the first social highlight of the year in the north-east, but had to be canceled in 2021 and 2022. On the occasion of the meeting, companies, members and sponsors donate money that benefits hospice work, youth trips to Israel and other social projects.

The former editor-in-chief of ZDF, Peter Frey, is expected to be the keynote speaker. Many prominent speakers have come to the Epiphany meetings in the past, including Cardinal Reinhard Marx, Mikhail Gorbachev, Angela Merkel, Roman Herzog, Wolfgang Schäuble, Wolfgang Thierse and Joachim Gauck before he became Federal President.

Due to the long unclear Corona situation, this time the benefit evening will take place in a hotel in Groß Nemerow on Lake Tollense on a somewhat smaller scale, instead of in the House of Culture and Education as usual. In 2022, on the occasion of January 6th, 75,000 euros were donated to social projects of the Epiphany Association.
