Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania: Four in one go: thieves steal GDR cult mopeds again

Bresewitz (dpa/mv) - The police in Western Pomerania are looking for GDR cult moped thieves. As a police spokesman said, perpetrators stole four such mopeds from a garage in Bresewitz near Barth (West Pomerania-Rügen) on Thursday night. These are three Simson S 51 Enduro and a green "Habicht". The total damage was estimated at around 11,000 euros.

The criminal police are investigating particularly serious theft. Mopeds of this series were built in the GDR in the Simson factory in Suhl. They are considered to be very robust, have now become fancier status and are stolen more often. Most recently, similar mopeds were stolen from garages in the municipality of Feldberger Seenlandschaft (Mecklenburg Lake District) in April.

Lovingly restored mopeds of this series are traded among enthusiasts for several thousand euros.
