Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania: Fraudsters want to trick a woman - the police are helping

Ludwigslust (dpa / mv) - A pensioner from Ludwigslust allowed herself to be drawn into alleged counterfeit money investigations against her bank - but then just barely lost her money. As a police spokesman said on Thursday, a last call to the emergency number 110 to make sure saved the pensioner from losing 4,000 euros.

A scammer had pretended to be a police officer on the phone. He told the woman that her bank was issuing counterfeit money and that this had to be cleared up. So she should get the money from the bank. The woman did the same on Wednesday.

When she got home, however, she dialed the emergency number to find out what to do next. The spokesman said "all the alarm bells were ringing" with the real police. The department sent police officers who were able to clear up the scam.
