Greifswald (dpa / mv) - There was a hacker attack on the Facebook page of the marketing company of the city of Greifswald. Someone tried to gain access on June 4, a city spokeswoman said on Friday. The profile of Greifswald Marketing GmbH was blocked by Facebook along with the associated profile on the Instagram platform. The Instagram profile was therefore operated jointly with the city administration. There are new shows now. Greifswald Marketing GmbH is a wholly owned subsidiary of the city of Greifswald.
Apart from the loss of content on the profiles or around thousands of subscribers to Instagram, there was no further damage. "We're happy about that too," said the spokeswoman. It probably wasn't an accident. A service provider called in also assumed a hacker attack. The city administration's Facebook page was not affected.
The new joint Instagram account of the city administration and Greifswald Marketing can be reached under "hansestadt.greifswald" and the new Facebook page of the marketing company under "@GreifswaldMarketing". The city administration is still present on Facebook under "@StadtGreifswald".
