Rostock (dpa / mv) – Second division football club FC Hansa Rostock has signed Lukas Fröde. The 27-year-old defensive player will play for the Baltic Sea townsfolk for another year, the club announced on Wednesday. Fröde was loaned out by league rivals Karlsruher SC last summer. Nothing was known about the amount of the transfer fee.

Born in Hesse, he took his chance, said sporting director Martin Pieckenhagen, adding: “He quickly became an important part of the team and helped us achieve our goals.”

Fröde has played 26 competitive games for Mecklenburg and scored two goals. He can be used in defensive midfield as well as in central defence.
