Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania: Hansa test in Posen closed to the public

Rostock (dpa/mv) - The test match between FC Hansa Rostock and Polish champions Lech Poznan scheduled for January 21, 2023 will take place without spectators. As the Mecklenburg second division soccer team announced, despite several discussions between the two club managements, no agreement had been reached to meet the requirements of the local authorities. The costs for the use in the security area alone would be in the six-digit range and would have to be borne by the clubs, it was said to be the reason.

"It's unfortunate that despite our best efforts, no fans can be there. After talking to the fan scene, we described our view of this friendly match, but unfortunately it didn't lead to success," said Hansa CEO Robert Marien. "We are very disappointed because, in addition to the sporting appeal, a game like this also depends on the atmosphere."

According to the club, around 1,500 fans would have wanted to travel to Poland with 23 buses that had already been organized. In order to make the test match in Poznan accessible to the Hansa supporters, a live video broadcast is planned on the club's own channels in the social networks. The match in sixth place in the Polish Ekstraklasa is the last Hansa friendly before the start of the second half of the season. On January 28 (1 p.m. / Sky) the Rostock team will play at 1. FC Heidenheim.
