Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania: Hunter shoots and hits harvester

Vellahn (dpa / mv) - The police in West Mecklenburg are investigating a hunter who is said to have hit a corn chopper with his rifle near Vellahn. A police spokesman said on Monday that the 56-year-old hunter probably wanted to shoot at a wild boar fleeing from the corn field on Saturday, but the bullet hit the cutting unit of the harvester. The 39-year-old driver and his four-year-old son were sitting in the cab of the work machine. Both were frightened, but remained unharmed.

The driver is said to have hit the hunter after the incident, which is why he reported physical harm. Why the man hunted during the harvest is still unclear. The police seized the gun and the man's hunting license.
