Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania: IG-Metall: extend the transfer company of the MV shipyards

Schwerin/Wismar (dpa/mv) - The IG Metall trade union is demanding an extension of the transfer company of the MV shipyards. "We are concerned with the future of the shipyards and industry in the country. We want to secure jobs and locations," it said on Friday in a demonstration call for the coming week. On Wednesday, the union wants to emphasize its claim from 9 a.m. in front of the state parliament in Schwerin. Prime Minister Manuela Schwesig and Economics Minister Reinhard Meyer (both SPD) were invited.

In addition to an extension of the transfer company for the approximately 900 former employees of the insolvent MV Werften Group, which is due to expire at the end of October, the employee representatives also want to protest for a cap on energy prices for employees and companies.

At the turn of the month on Saturday, the new owner of the MV shipyard site in Wismar, the submarine builder Thyssenkrupp Marine Systems (TKMS), hired the first people. According to an announcement by the company, these are the previous trainees and dual students at the MV shipyards in Wismar and their trainers.
