Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania: Important construction phase: new theater workshop in Neustrelitz

Neustrelitz (dpa/mv) - A good one and a half years after the start of construction, the new theater workshop is being presented today in Neustrelitz (Mecklenburg Lake District). With the new construction of an approximately 1000 square meter and nine meter high industrial hall, the conditions for many theater craftsmen improve - and the renovation of historical buildings in the listed residential city can continue. Around 3.1 million euros were invested in the workshop with the help of the state of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. Neustrelitz contributes 800,000 euros of this.

All the stage sets for Theater und Orchester GmbH are created in the workshop, which, with around 200 employees, is one of the four large theaters in the northeast. Up until now, the carpenters and stage designers have worked in the historical royal stables at the theatre. This is being completely renovated and is to be used as a rehearsal stage and as a festival and event hall.

Once the rehearsal stage has moved in there, the historic Hofmarschallhaus can also be renovated. Neustrelitz was the capital of the Grand Duchy of Mecklenburg-Strelitz, which existed from 1701 to 1918. The noble house of Mecklenburg still has connections in large European noble houses.
