Hiddensee (dpa/mv) - Commuters and residents can take the ferry to the island of Hiddensee free of charge from Monday to the end of August. For the duration of the validity of the nationwide 9-euro ticket, the ferry service between the island and Schaprode on Rügen is free for these groups, according to a joint statement by the District Administrator of Western Pomerania-Rügen, Stefan Kerth, and the State Secretary for Western Pomerania, Heiko Miraß (both SPD).
At the end of May, the district administrator asked the state government for compensation for the fact that Hiddenseers do not get the discounts of the 9-euro ticket. This compensation is made possible by a one-off subsidy from the district, which is to be supported from the fund for Western Pomerania and eastern Mecklenburg.
