Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania: Intendant to restart: Great need for cheap tickets

Schwerin (dpa/mv) - The restart of the theater day, on which the Mecklenburg State Theater in Schwerin invites you to visit a reduced-price performance once a month, has been a success, according to general director Hans-Georg Wegner. "We reintroduced the theater day with 15 euros in all seats because in the current situation it is very important that everyone can treat themselves to a visit to the theater per month. The "Tannhäuser" as an introduction was a complete success," explained Wegner.

More than 300 tickets were sold for the performance of the four-hour Wagner opera on October 25, a Tuesday. "It was a wonderful performance and you can tell that there is a great need for cheap tickets," said the theater manager. After a corona-related interruption of more than two years, the performance of Wagner's "Singer War at the Wartburg" in the Great House was the first performance for which tickets for all seating categories cost 15 euros - including box seats, which otherwise pay more than three times as much must become.

According to the theatre, there will be a theater day for selected performances both in the big house and in the new M*Halle venue, for which ticket prices will be reduced to 10 euros. The play "Kabale und Liebe" will be shown there on December 14th. "Gundermann - Men, Women and Machines" is already on the program for the Big House on November 12th and the ballet "Night Without Morning" on January 12th, 2023.

The restart of the theater day is not only a reaction to the currently tense financial situation of the population, but also a signal for a return to more normality after the sometimes considerable restrictions on theater operations in the corona pandemic. Visitor numbers dropped drastically.
